Personal Watercraft Insurance, Jeff Rodgers Wins The Nautique Big Dawg Title in California

Saturday, Oct. 1st 2016 8:23 AM
Jeff Rodgers
The final stop of the 2016 Nautique Big Dawg World Tour, presented by O’Brien, concluded last Friday at Bell Acqua Lakes in Rio Linda, California. Jeff Rodgers, who started the season with a win at the West Palm Beach stop, finished strong with another victory in California. The former world-record holder ran 39 1/2 four times during his six rounds to the title, and also tied Greg Badal with the best score of the event (3 at 41 off). It’s likely that some of those early rounds took a toll on his endurance, however, because in the final head-to-head against David Miller, he left the door open with a score of 4 at 39 1/2 off. As the second skier off the dock, all Miller needed was a piece of five ball to take the title. His start was spot on. Early out of one and out of two. But his concentration was hijacked at three ball and he broke forward and lost the handle. The title was Rodgers.

Perform routine maintenance. You should check over your yacht or recreational boat each season before you head out on the water, but it is also a good idea to see to it that everything is well stocked and that your emergency radio or GPS are functional before you’re far from land. Ensure that your first aid kits and emergency equipment work – and that your crew knows how to use them.

Personal Watercraft Insurance, Beware of the People On Board Your Boat

Thursday, May. 19th 2016 11:42 AM

Never overload your boat and be sure that passengers never sit in an area that is not meant to be a seat (the gunwale or bow come to mind). Personal Watercraft Insurance, Alcoholic Beverages and Boating Don’t Mix

Sunday, May. 15th 2016 6:32 AM

Do not drink any alcoholic beverages if you are in charge of the yacht or boat. Not only is drinking and boating illegal, but in 2014, of the 277 recreational boating accidents where the primary cause was alcohol, there were 108 fatalities. Just as you should not drink and drive, you want to stay sober when in charge of a yacht, boat, canoe, or anything on water. It’s not worth the risk of your life or anyone else’s. Leave the party until you’re safe on shore or someone else is the designated captain.

Wednesday, May. 11th 2016 10:15 AM

Recreational vessels are required to display navigation lights between sunset and sunrise and during periods of reduced visibility (fog, rain, haze, etc). The U.S. Coast Guard Navigation Rules specify lighting requirements for every description of watercraft.

It is further suggested that you equip your vessel with an anchor and a sufficient amount of anchor line; a de-watering device, such as a bilge pump in the event of flooding; and an oar, paddle or other alternative means of propulsion in case your engine fails. If the above equipment requirements and suggestions are met, you may be eligible to display an FWC or Coast Guard Auxiliary safety decal.

Personal Watercraft Insurance, Have a written emergency preparedness plan

Monday, May. 9th 2016 7:14 AM

It is important to have a written emergency preparedness plan that is clear and easy to follow – and accessible to staff in the event of an emergency situation:

* Prepare a plan for each type of emergency you identify and don’t worry if some elements are repetitive. As with any policy and procedure, you want to be certain that your employees know as quickly as possible which actions to take and who to involve.

* A useful emergency plan will outline safety precautions, the initial response, the follow-up response that includes security and environmental, and any reporting procedures. It is also wise to make certain that there are contingency plans in place for long weekends, holidays, or times when others may have to step into the roles defined for others because emergencies don’t always have good timing.

* Take steps to ensure that any identified training needs for staff that are met and kept up-to-date. Have a process in place to make certain that new staff are trained, that training is kept current, and that the emergency roles of any departing staff are filled.
