What are Dental HMO’s

Tuesday, Nov. 29th 2016 6:48 AM

HMO Insurance Networks

DHMO refers to a dental health maintenance organization that helps you find the best…

These insurance plans, also known as “capitation plans,” operate like their medical HMO cousins. This type of dental plan provides a comprehensive dental care to enrolled patients through designated provider office.

A Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DHMO) is a common example of a capitation plan. The individual and family dentist is paid on a per capita (per person) basis rather than for actual treatment provided.

Participating individual and family dental offices receive a fixes monthly fee based on the number of patients assigned to the office. In addition to premiums, client co-payments may be required for each visit.

Sunday, Nov. 27th 2016 6:40 AM

Now Franck Cammas is hoping that his team, Groupama Team France, will be an America’s Cup contender.  Because of the injury, his 2016 Olympic campaign was over. But his 2017 America’s Cup campaign was still a possibility, and last month — after months of rehabilitation — he returned to competition with Groupama Team France in the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series in New York.

Personal Watercraft Insurance, Sailing Into America’s Cup History in Chicago

Friday, Nov. 25th 2016 6:41 AM

The America’s Cup races have yet to be held on fresh water. Even when Team Alinghi, from landlocked Switzerland, defended the Cup in 2007, it chose to hold the competition in Spain, on the Mediterranean Sea off Valencia.

But the America’s Cup preliminaries will break the freshwater taboo when Chicago stages a Louis Vuitton World Series event on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The racing, which will take place on Lake Michigan off Navy Pier, brings together the six teams entered in next year’s main event in Bermuda. They will compete in AC 45 foiling catamarans, a one-design version of the slightly larger boats that will be deployed for the Cup itself in 2017.

Personal Watercraft Insurance, First Aid and Planing for Each Trip

Monday, Nov. 21st 2016 8:42 AM

Make sure to revisit your first aid supplies before you leave the dock. Are you going fishing, cruising, or racing? Consider whether anyone on board has allergies (is there an Epi-Pen?) or serious health conditions like diabetes or heart disease. You can buy off-the-shelf first aid kits or assemble a custom first aid kit — just make sure that your first aid supplies are kept in a waterproof container so they aren’t damaged by water, humidity, or moisture. And watch for expiration dates on all medications and ointments!

Remember, it’s just as important to review your comprehensive yacht insurance or boat insurance before a trip, as it is to review your first aid supplies. We can help! Contact the yacht insurance professionals at Global Marine Insurance to review your policies.

Personal Watercraft Insurance, First Aid On Size Does Not Fit All

Saturday, Nov. 19th 2016 8:41 AM

You need to consider the size of your boat and your passengers. Will you have children on board? Seniors? A large crew? And, of course, you need to consider the most likely types of injuries you will have to treat. This could range from cuts and scrapes and illnesses and nausea to more significant injuries like fractures (but, again, if you have a well-stocked kit with splints and bandages but don’t know how to use them, it won’t help very much!).

A small family pleasure craft might only require a basic first aid kit with standard bandages and ointments, whereas a large yacht that is out to sea for days at a time with a large crew will require a much larger supply of first aid items.

Personal Watercraft Insurance, First Aid Training

Thursday, Nov. 17th 2016 6:15 AM

First aid training could be valuable in the event that you face a medical emergency when you’re out on the water and could be several minutes, hours, or even days away from help. Check with your yacht insurance specialists for first aid training and boat safety courses in your area (it might even reduce your rates).

All the first aid training in the world cannot make up for the lack of a properly stocked first aid kit. Certainly, you may be able to make due with items at hand, but having the right first aid supplies on your boat can make handling an injury a lot easier –and it could perhaps save a life.

MOSCOW — A boating accident in northwestern Russia that claimed the lives of 14 disadvantaged children from Moscow was the result of criminal negligence and recklessness, investigators said in a statement on Monday.

“The instructors who accompanied the children did not take necessary efforts to rescue them,” Russia’s powerful Investigative Committee, the country’s equivalent of the F.B.I., said in the statement. “They were thinking about their own lives.”

Dental Direct Reimbursement Plans

Sunday, Nov. 13th 2016 8:29 AM

A dental insurance care plan now coming into vogue is the direct reimbursement plan. This is a self-funded benefit plan — not insurance — in which an employer pays for dental care with its own funds, rather than paying premiums to an insurance company or third-party administrator.

You, the patient, pay the full amount directly to the individual or family dentist who accepts dental insurance, then get a receipt detailing services rendered and the cost, which you show to your employer. The employer reimburses you for part or all of the dental insurance costs, depending on your specific benefits.

Your company might reimburse 100 percent of your first $100 of dental expenses and then 80 percent of the next $500, and 50 percent of the next $2,000, with a total annual maximum benefit of $1,500. Or it might reimburse only 50 percent of your first $1,000, resulting in a $500 yearly cap.

The Cost Of The Invisalign Treatment

Friday, Nov. 11th 2016 6:42 AM

Comparable To That Of Traditional Braces

The cost of the Invisalign treatment is comparable to that of traditional braces ranging from $3,000 to $5,000. The cost depends on the severity of your malocclusion and how may aligners, time, and effort, it will take to fix your teeth. However, only your dentist can determine the actual cost of treatment because it will be based on your specific needs, including how extensive your dental problems are, how long your treatment will last, etc.

Treatment with Invisalign may cost as much as 20 to 50 percent more than traditional orthodontic treatments. Geographic locations of orthodontist also effects the average Invisalign cost. You should inquire directly with your insurance company to determine whether the cost of Invisalign is fully or partially covered.

If you have been considering orthodontic treatment with, rather than traditional braces, you should find an orthodontist to discuss Invisalign cost and determine whether you are a candidate for the procedure. Many dentists also offer financing for Invisalign and can bring the cost down to easy monthly payments.

Preferred Provider Organizations

Wednesday, Nov. 9th 2016 9:09 AM

Another true dental insurance plan, a Preferred provider organizations ( PPO) falls somewhere between an indemnity plan and a dental HMO. This plan allows a particular group of patients to receive dental care from a defined panel of individual dental insurance dentists. This type could be used to provide dental gap insurance.

The participating individual or family office agrees to charge less than usual fees to this specific patient base, providing savings for the plan purchaser. If the patient chooses to see one who is not designated as a “preferred provider,” that patient may be required to pay a greater share of the fee-for-service.

A group of individual or family dentistry providers agrees to provide services at a deeply discounted rate, giving you substantial savings — as long as you stay in their network. Unlike the more restrictive DHMO, though, you can go out of network and still receive some benefits

Personal Watercraft Insurance, Inventory your safety gear.

Saturday, Nov. 5th 2016 6:37 AM

When you are boating in Florida, you need to have proper emergency gear not only on your boat, but easily accessible. Check your supplies to ensure everything is in good condition and you have the First Aid supplies you might need for your trip (enough for every guest on board your craft). The reason this is taken so seriously is that a lot of boating in Florida is out on the open water and things can go very wrong very quickly. Make sure that you check the weather for seasonal risks like hurricanes and stay aware of your surroundings.

Thursday, Nov. 3rd 2016 6:30 AM

The state of Florida takes boating safety very seriously. If you’re visiting the sunshine state, you are required to have taken a boating course in your home state or take one in Florida before you rent or buy a boat. Taking a Florida boating course helps ensure that everyone knows the rules for navigating the waterways. And if you have taken one, it never hurts to brush up on your boating safety before a trip.

Personal Watercraft Insurance, Watch out for local wildlife.

Tuesday, Nov. 1st 2016 5:28 AM

Be careful while you are on the water such that you do not accidentally hurt dolphins or manatees by running into them. This means you need to be watchful for signs that there are dolphins or manatees in the water nearby, even if you’re not in areas marked by wildlife markers (because the mammals do not always observe what the signs say). If you are in a designated wildlife zone, please observe restrictions so you don’t hurt any of these gentle creatures.
