Personal Watercraft Insurance, 2016 Gekko GTR 22 Review
The classic Gekko GTR 22 is the same championship towboat you remember from year’s past, but now it’s got some upgrades that modernize this high performer to bring it up to today’s three event standards.
First the performance. The GTR 22’s reputation precedes it as a legitimate slalom boat. As a former record approved tournament towboat, it has small wakes, ski lockers, a center mounted pylon, and a robust Indmar 330 horsepower engine. The boat is quick to plane, and its tracking performance is exceptional. The GTR 22 is also versatile. This isn’t just a ski boat. The open bow is comfortable and deep and it gives you extra space for both seating and ballast. The hull works great for surfing and recreational wakeboarding. You can throw a sack on either side of the motor box and you’re ready to go. And finally, the GTR 22 doesn’t look like every other boat on the water and that’s something to appreciate. The swim platform is built into the fiberglass for a sleek, flowing design and the tower was custom built to fit the deck with an easy, low-profile folding function. A legacy slalom boat at an incredible price with some worthy upgrades: the GTR 22 is back.
