Skierpalooza – Fundraiser & Ski Event Sponsor
It’s true, at Global Marine we do spend a lot of time working with boat insurance quotes and rates to get you the best coverage but it’s our passion for the water and boating community that makes it all worth while. Our enthusiasm for anything boating related makes it tough to pass up an opportunity to get involved in any water ski related event, so when we had the chance to sponsor Skierpalooza we simply couldn’t resist. Skierpalooza is unique in that it’s a fundraising event for the Prevent Cancer Foundation and it provides skiing enthusiasts an opportunity to water ski with new gear, features ski inspired art, live entertainment, and coaching from the ski pros not to mention fantastic partners including Radar, Nautique, OC Ski Club, Performance Ski and Surf and Waterski Magazine.
How exactly can one event do all that? First of all, Skierpalooza starts with two days of skiing in Orlando FL at the O.C. Waterski Club, where you get an opportunity to demo a new Radar behind a Nautique, followed by a complimentary lunch while mingling and picking up tips from the pros. Then, a fundraiser cocktail party Saturday night features an art sale by the notorious Bill Doster and raffle for gear from Performance Ski and Surf. The best part is that all of the proceeds from the art sale and raffle go to the Prevent Cancer Foundation, which is dedicated to saving lives through early detection and prevention.
This year the event had a great turn out and 50 registered participants were able to waterski one of Orlando’s prime ski locations, demo new ski gear and receive coaching from some top athletes including Chris Rossi, Aaron Larkin, Brooks and KC Wilson, Whitney McClintock and coach Matt Rini. The Saturday night fundraiser and social night was a huge success as well. Bill Doster’s art was a hot commodity, and raffle tickets went fast. The final count is not in yet but it looks like Skierpalooza will be contributing about six thousand dollars to the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This fundraiser is a great way for the skiing community to honor skiers lost to cancer and currently fighting cancer, while working to increase awareness about prevention so that we can continue to enjoy the sunshine while protecting our health.
“Skierpalooza was an amazing event, to bring a passion for waterskiing combined with raising money for a great partner like Prevent Cancer. This was truly a showcase of how tight the waterski community is. The success of the event will provide a great platform for future events (Skierpalooza). I was proud to represent Global Marine at such a great event.” – Jim Stanley, Global Marine
We would like to thank everyone who participated in this year’s Skierpalooza for making it a huge success and for giving us the opportunity to be apart of it. We look forward to doing it again next year. Later this month, May 25th – 27th we will be at Callaway Gardens in Georgia for the 53rd Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament and hope to see you there. Until then we will continue to serve the boating community by providing the best boat insurance coverage and rates possible.
